11:35am - Percussion Ensemble (Bach) rehearses in Music Room.
* 2 simutaneous gigs,
5:45pm - Percussion Ensemble meets at SHDHS for travel to London. Mr. Moore will meet you.
6:30pm - White Jazz plays in Dashwood.  Dashwood Community Centre 158 Centre Street. 5:45pm meet at school.  Arrive in Dashwood at 6:30pm.  Setup until 7:00pm, dinner provided, you play after dinner for one hour. Ms. Tooke will meet you.

Announcements

1. Only 2 weeks of rehearsals left before Cabaret!  We are looking to read and perform a lot of music, so please ensure you're attending all scheduled rehearsals. 
2. Cabaret tickets have been distributed!  If you do not yet have yours, please see Mr. Moore or Mathias to get that taken care of.  We're asking all Senior Band members to sell 4 tickets, and all Intermediate Band members to sell 2.   Tickets are $5/each, and include light refeshements as well as a whole afternoon/evening of great music.
3. If you have tickets, let's try to get the money and tickets exhanged sooner rather than later.  Ticket money and extras can be returned to Mr. Moore or Mathias anytime!
4. Black Jazz, Percussion Ensemble and Brass Quintet have a busy week this week with some extra events.  Please see Mr. Moore with any questions!

1. Great week of rehearsals last week everyone.  We have a lot of music to learn in a short period of time, so please make every effort to be at all rehearsals.  We need everyone on board to make this stuff happen before April 21/22.
2. We have a number of gigs in April for our smaller groups in addition to Cabaret (Percussion/Brass/White Jazz).  Please know what's going on if you're involved in one of those groups.

Announcements

1. Great work before the break, y'all!  I hope you're ready to get back to work on new repertoire for our annual Cabaret weekend, Kiwanis festivals, Huron Jazzfest and much more! We don't have a huge amount of time before these, so please remain committed to rehearsals going forward
2. Please pop in and say hello to Ms. Tooke, a new student teacher with a huge amount of performing experience.  She will be with us for the next 7 weeks, working closely with the bands and classes and working with Mr. Moore.  I'm sure you you'll make her feel welcome!

Congrats SHDHS 2011-2012 Bands!

SHDHS Cleans Up at Musicfest London!

On Tuesday and Wednesday of this week, nearly 100 student musicians over two days travelled to London to compete at the annual Regional Musicfest competition.  This regional-level competition determines suitability for National involvement, and once again, your SHDHS Musicians have done you proud.

Amazing and inspiring performances were given by all groups.  Mr. Moore and Mr. Weston are very proud of our accomplishments and performances. 

The final standings of our groups are as follows:

Intermediate Band and Percussion Ensemble: Silver
Senior Jazz and Senior Jazz Combination: Silver (plus)
Senior Concert Band: Gold

The Senior Concert band’s performance of nearly 28 minutes of very challenging music was very impressive. This band has worked hard to be competing in such a high class, and also taking home the gold in that class.  Check out a full video of their performance below!

3 Buses total will be going to London.  These buses will arrive at South Huron at 7:00am.  We will do attendance at 7:15am on the buses.  We will depart at 7:30am.  Please BE ON TIME.

We are arriving in London around 8:15am.  We will proceed to the gym at Oakridge and get organized and get called to the warmup room at 9:00am.  (No playing in the gym)

9:00am - Senior Band is in Warmup 

9:30am - Senior Band is On Stage (Intermediate Band watches us perform)

10:00am - Senior Band is in Clinic

*small break* Caf should be open if you want a snack.  Do not leave the school grounds. 

11:30am - Percussion Ensemble is in warmup
